CARE PROCEEDINGS
If the local authority or social services are involved in your children’s lives, this may ultimately lead to care proceedings as the authority must investigate any concerns about the children’s welfare further.
We understand visit or telephone contact from social services about your child can be distressing. We are experts in this area of law and are on hand to assist you and guide you through this process to ensure that your child has the best possible outcome for them.
Social services involvement may lead to protective measures being put into place. This can include court proceedings for care or supervision orders.
Whether acting for the parent, grandparent, or other family members, we will always have our client’s best interests from the outset.
Once parents or carers have received a pre-proceedings letter, they will be entitled to legal aid and the advice of a specialist solicitor. Once instructed we can liaise with social services on your behalf and guide you through the procedures, including presenting your case at a pre-proceedings meeting.

A cohabitation agreement usually covers the financial aspects of a relationship. It allows both parties agree financial arrangements whilst the going is good on how their assets will be dealt with if the relationship fails.The agreement can include property owned together or separately, financial split of household bills and expenses, as well as any other assets or investments.
To be legally enforceable, a cohabitation agreement must be executed as a deed and signed in the presence of witnesses. It must also be considered fair. Both partners must also be advised to take independent legal advice before committing to an agreement.

If you have an agreement in place but want certainty that there will be no last-minute changes for which you cannot control, we can ensure that your agreement is embodies in a court order to make it legally binding. We can try to resolve this initially by way of a consent order which both parties agree and is then sealed or approved by the court. -
